Training Centre Feature: Field Studies Ireland

Leave No Trace Ireland works with 11 Accredited Training Centres all across the island of Ireland. These centres provide top tier Leave No Trace Training Courses and seamlessly integrate the 7 principles throughout all the work they do.

Today’s Accredited Training Centre Feature is on Field Studies Ireland

Field Studies Ireland are a social enterprise on a mission to provide access to outdoor education across the island of Ireland. What really stands out about the facilitating that Field Studies Ireland does, is the range of people they connect with, and connect to nature.

Working with the broadest range of learners through both formal and informal education programmes, Mark, Tim and Caris specialise in participant focused outdoor teaching through place-based education. They cover a range of outdoor environments, including rivers, coastal, and woodlands and have been delivering Leave No Trace courses since 2021.

The centre focuses on outdoor and environmental skills and training that really connects people with natural places. Whether participants are looking to upskill or expand their knowledge of recreational hobbies, Field Studies Ireland offers courses to suit all skill levels.

One of their favourite elements of teaching Leave No Trace courses is “sharing real-life practical skills and offering tips for using the outdoors responsibly”.

When it comes to teaching habitats, Mark says woodlands top the team’s list. “These environments are not only diverse but also easily accessible, offering shelter from inclement weather and providing an engaging learning atmosphere.”

When they’re not hard at work, the team enjoys spending their downtime in nature, particularly near or in the ocean!
